An overview of Intermarket Bank’s factoring services
Receivables financing
Access liquidity within just a few days of invoicing.
Financing your receivables is the core functionality of factoring. That is why fast, and straightforward processing is very important to us. We transfer 80–90% of the amount of your issued invoices (including VAT) within a few days, giving you access to cash soon after invoicing. The remaining amount, less fees, will be credited to you as soon as your customers have paid the invoice.
Beyond receivables financing, we offer additional services to help you access more cash faster and more efficiently.
Selling outstanding receivables to a bank offers significant benefits. This particularly applies to international trade: greater financial flexibility, increased security, and the potential to optimise your balance sheet by reducing outstanding receivables and external debt.
As flexible as necessary, as secure as possible
The sale of receivables is possible for nearly all types of receivables, including trade receivables, rent and lease payments, and many others.
The purchase of receivables can be structured either with or without recourse. This depends on whether the seller is liable for the accuracy and collectability of the receivable or only for its accuracy.
In the case of a receivables purchase without recourse (without recovery/forfaiting), the receivable must be separated from the underlying transaction. For example, through a letter of credit, a bill of exchange guaranteed by a bank, or a bank guarantee accepted by us.
For a straightforward book-entry receivable, a transfer protocol or a confirmation from the debtor that there will be no objections arising from the underlying transaction is sufficient.
If the debtor risk is too high for the purchasing bank and none of the above-referenced forms of security are available, a receivables purchase can also be based on a federal guarantee (G9) or a private insurance policy.
Benefits for your company
- More liquidity
Converting receivables into cash generates liquidity, which supports the company´s growth. Factoring does not draw on your existing bank lines of credit, making it an effective supplement or alternative to existing bank facilities. We record the purchase of the receivables exclusively to your customers. - Revenue-based financing
As your sales increase or decrease, your financing adjusts accordingly. This effectively balances out seasonal fluctuations - Revenue-driven financing
During periods of strong growth or when expanding your business operations, your company needs liquidity as your accounts receivable grow rapidly. It is exactly during these times that you benefit most from having access to additional cash reserves. - Improved security
As your receivables are purchased on a non-recourse basis, the risk of default by debtors is transferred to Intermarket. Intermarket can also integrate an existing trade credit insurance policy or insure your debtors through an Intermarket insurance policy. - Capturing early payment discounts
With cash no longer tied up in receivables, you can take advantage of early payment discounts when paying suppliers. The benefit remains with your company and is reflected in your income statement. - Potential reduction in total assets and rating improvement
Factoring can improve key balance sheet metrics (particularly equity) and strengthen your credit rating due to a changed balance sheet profile. At the same time, working capital needs are optimised.

Credit insurance
Protection against your debtors’ insolvency
When one of your customers becomes insolvent, your company is exposed to significant financial risk and may also face considerable time and effort in collecting outstanding receivables. To protect you against the effects of insolvency of your business partners, Intermarket Bank, in cooperation with a credit insurance provider, may assume that credit risk on your behalf.
Once you’ve taken out trade credit insurance, a credit limit is established for each customer. If one of your business partners becomes insolvent, the insurance will compensate you for the outstanding receivables.
Backed by many years of experience and the highest standards of professionalism, we stand ready to protect your company against the insolvency of your business partners.
Benefits of trade credit insurance through Intermarket
- Reduction of financial risks
- Protection against the insolvency of your business partners
- Debt collection handled professionally by Intermarket
- Less time and effort spent on accounting
Forfaiting
Forfaiting differs from a standard purchase of receivables in that it involves an additional form of security for the receivable, such as a letter of credit, a bill of exchange guaranteed by a bank, or a bank guarantee accepted by us.
Forfaiting: the 3 key benefits for you
- Improved liquidity: proceeds are available rapidly, providing additional liquidity if an existing credit line is already fully utilised.
- Risk transfer with non-recourse receivables purchase: The payment risk, political risks, and force majeure risks are borne by the purchasing bank. Interest rate risk is eliminated due to the fixed interest rate. Exchange rate risk is likewise eliminated when invoices are issued in foreign currencies.
- Potential balance sheet reduction: A lower level of receivables and reduced external debt may improve certain financial ratios (depending on applicable accounting regulations).
